You can find almost anything on Amazon’s website, from clothing, to sports equipment, to best selling books. Amazon.com is also a great resource for you to use to find the college textbooks you need for school, at a cheaper price than you may find at your school’s bookstore.

The first thing you need to do is locate the ISBN number for the college textbook you are required to buy for class.  This ten or thirteen digit number can be found near the bar code on the back of the book.  Sometimes, professors will include the ISBN number along with the title and author of the textbook they want their student’s to buy.

Get online, and go to the Amazon.com. website.  On the left of the website you will find an orange rectangle that says, “Shop all departments”.  The first department is “Books”.   When you point at it, it brings up another menu of choices, and one of them is “textbooks”.  Click the link for “textbooks” to start your search.

In the center of the new page, you will find a box that gives you three choices about how to search for a textbook.  I recommend you use the ISBN search, because this is the most accurate way to find the exact textbook you need.  After entering the ISBN number, click the little circle that has “go” written on it.

Here is where things get interesting.  The next page shows you a picture of the book you searched for.  Listed next to the book is the cheapest price Amazon could find in its resources for a new copy of the textbook you are looking for.  Some books are eligible for the Amazon Prime program, which offers a discount on shipping.  You can select from different shipping options even if you aren’t a member of Prime.

If you wanted an even cheaper price for your college textbook, click on the link that says “used” There is a description of the condition the used book is in, such as “used- very good’ or “used-good”.  You will need to take a close look to find the textbook that has the cheapest price, because they are not listed in order.  When you are ready to buy it, click on “add to cart” and then click on “proceed to check out”.  Amazon.com gives you a lot of choices to consider when looking for cheap college textbooks.
